Another day, another disturbing & incomplete research article

In case you needed another reason to shake your fist at obesity studies which rely solely on BMI as a measure - here comes the "being fat killz your brain" article from LiveScience (and researchers at UCLA).

I am going to try and get access to the full article to read about the other factors they (hopefully) examined with regards to the brain tissue loss. I wonder if they even asked about drug/alcohol use, since it didn't even warrant a mention in the article - just about how evil fat is and how you can prevent Alzheimer's with good ole fashioned diet and exercise. What? Really? If I had only known! *obvious sarcasm*

I honestly think it's sort of wrong to tell people that diet/nutrition and exercise can prevent really devastating diseases like Alzheimer's. I was under the impression that Alzheimer's has a genetic link (just like obesity in some people, I would assume). Am I remembering false information, here?
