Developing a new chub rub solution and OOTD
[info]scalesrforfish
Hi all!  I've been lurking for a couple of years now, loving the OOTDs, and decided that it was finally time to post.  This community has really helped me move along my (always continuing) fat acceptance journey.  In fact, I have been inspired to change careers - from lawyer to chub rub annihilator!

My idea is currently in the early stages, but I'm thinking something like the Luvee thigh coveralls, only less lacy, more active wear, more gender neutral and better fitting.  I'm heading this direction because I really don't like wearing shorts under my skirts, and I would personally prefer something that just covered my legs.  I also think it is easier to fit a wide range of bodies if you are only trying to fit someone's thighs.  I've tried the Luvee's thigh coveralls and didn't really like the fit or the look.  I would also like to fit a very wide range of bodies - right now, I'm thinking maybe sizing from 20" thighs up to 38" thighs.

So my question, to all of you, is whether this is something that you all would be interested in or if the idea of a thigh sleeve just doesn't do it for you.  Also, what do you think of my proposed size range - should it go up higher or down lower - its been somewhat tricky trying to figure out how thigh sizes compare to dress sizes, so any input would be greatly appreciated.  Also, if you have any other input regarding what you would like to see in a chub rub cure, I would love to hear it!

Also, as a thank you for reading through my post and for your helpful input - here's an OOTD (my very first!) of me from a trip to Maui my hubby and I made about a year ago (when I was in desperate need of a chub rub cure):

Thanks in advance for your input!

Edited to add: Thanks to all those who have given me feedback - I very much appreciate you taking the time to do so and it is all very helpful!

Review of Skindura Secret Shield
Gopher

This is a totally unsolicited review of this product, but I'm just so excited about it! I am prone to horrible chub rub, and have tried just about everything I've come across to help. I basically gave up on all the lotions and potions and resigned myself to wearing shorts or girdles under all my skirts & dresses.

Then a couple of weeks ago I saw that both Fab Finds Under $50 and Bombshell Beauty were endorsing Skindura's Secret Shield. I've spent a lot more money on other solutions for chub rub, so I thought I'd give it a try. I didn't have high hopes though.

Well, I am currently wearing a skirt with no shorts or girdle for the first time...god, in years! And I'm not in pain. Now granted it's only been a few hours, but this is the longest I've ever been able to go without the extra clothing. I'm floored. I have no idea how Skindura has done it, but I'm sold.
I brought the stick with me to work, in case I need to reapply (I haven't had to yet), and an extra pair of Avenue seamless bike shorts, just in case. I may not even need either.

Has anyone else tried Secret Shield? What has been your experience with it?

I leave for a beach vacation in a week and need an anti-chafing product!

I have used Body Glide in the past but have found that it doesn't always work as well as it should on my thighs.

What's your favorite??
Something that is waterproof would be awesome since I'd like to be able to walk down the beach in my swimsuit with no issues.

Ultimate Guide to Chub Rub Cures
[info]lillipilli1978

Hi guys - I've just posted a huge review of all of the (many!) chub-rub cures I've tried over the years on my blog http://frocksandfroufrou.com
I've got Luvees, Thigh Salvation, Petti-pants, Body Glide, Lanacane... you name it - I've tried it!
I don't think any one option is perfect to tell you the truth. If anyone can made a good slinky, breathable, non-riding-up, unembarassing, non-constricting pair of "comfort" shorts they'll make a killing, but I'm so sick of "slimming" shorts being the only option (especially in Australia!)
Anyway - I thought I'd put a post up of everything I've tried and their individual pros and cons, because I'm continually surprised by the number of people I speak to who just don't wear skirts or dresses, because they didn't realise they have options to combat chub-rub.

Review of Luvees

Hi fats -

I posted a couple of weeks ago and asked for help in finding an undergarment for my wedding that would serve the same purpose as bike shorts but be slightly cuter/sexier. Well, ALLELUIA! MY LUVEES ARRIVED TODAY!

You can see what I mean here - www.luvees.com

There are two products that they offer - the Thigh Coverall with essentially looks like a band of material that simply goes around your thigh and the Panty Coverall. I purchased the Panty Coverall and I truly could not be more thrilled. I got it in black and white, the white being specifically for my wedding. I previewed the look with my fiance and not only did he not hate them, but he thought they were quite sexy!

The lace is soft and stretchy. These are not shapewear at all, nor are they meant to be. It appears on the website that the pink and nude is slightly different than the black and white (in the picture the waist is slightly higher and the thighs slightly lower on the pink/nude). I cannot speak to that since I didn't order either of those colors.

The thighs have a nice silky soft panel on the inside, which is smart because lace rubbing together really is not very comfortable. They sit a couple of inches below my belly button, which is perfect for me. The band around the bottom of the thigh is just slightly tighter, which makes me feel like they really won't ride up.

All in all, great purchase and thank you to whoever recommended them (I can't remember who it was).

Question for you Ladies:

I know some of you are athletic and/or work out while still being lovely fatshionistas.  I have recently joined a gym to get my lung capacity up and get strength in one of my knees that has issues.  It's been a great experience so far except for Read more... )

I thought this might be of interest to some other Fatshionistas; I know many of us have problems with this from time to time. I do not know about the effectiveness of this particular gel; I tend to use zinc oxide diaper cream myself, but it *does* stain, so I'm interested to see this product, and have requested my own sample.

It will sadly only be shipped to US addresses, one per household, and you have to be over 18.

I'd be really interested in hearing about other non-staining products for chafing, myself; I love the zinc oxide for overnights but it's really uncomfortable to use while clothed.

Just wanted to let you all know that I have tried the new Lanacane anti-chaffing product. It works well. It comes out as a gel/lotion and smoothes into a powdery sort of feel. It definitly worked, but needed to be reapplied during the day. Perfect for under skirts when you dont want to wear shorts. I got it for under 9$.

Note: mods wanted me to include a link. this one is for an american only site. just google lanacane anti chaffing for places to buy online. but it is carried in drug stores and places like zellers and walmart too.

Chub rub!
[info]ruth76
As summer approaches in the UK and our thoughts once again turn to "chub rub", I'd like to recommend these Marks & Spencers mens Ultrafit cycle shorts:

http://www.marksandspencer.com/Ultra-Fit-Ultrafit-Plain-Shorts/dp/B0027IYU4A?ie=UTF8&qid=1270663917&categoryNodeID=43371030&ref=sr_1_2&page=&node=332645031&sr=1-2&mnSBrand=core&rh=

They're breathable and fantastically comfortable, and the xxl fits my size 26/28 arse and thighs without a problem! (Unlike Evans 3x comfort shorts, which feel like they cut off the blood supply in my legs!)
