i know!!!! i swear i'm about to write this man a fan letter for finally putting some beautiful fat ladies in the public eye!!! celebrations are in order. :)
I scampered off to style.com to check out the whole collection. His models also feature elderly people, and "little people" (I use the PC term here because I would rather err on the side of correctness than come across as offensive).
I will have to formulate my thoughts on this. Give me a few hours. ;)
my thoughts--i LOVE the idea of these large beautiful women on the runway in designer clothes, but i worry he's using these people for the next "it" thing, and then, of course, it'll be back to the shadows, do y'know?
i agree, and they can all get their asses in gear and make up for all that lost time we've had to suffer!!!! i love the second one too; it's really stunning!!!
i love the reasoning behind his collection, which is that style is for everyone - that couture can work on all shapes and sizes. too bad i don't think it'll last. *sigh* the model in the black dress is named velvet and i joined her yahoo group over the weekend.
i feel the same way about the strong possibility that it won't last. *Sigh*; wouldn't it be great, though, if this were the beginning of the end of it all?
I am thankful that it is Galliano who's executed this masterpiece of revolutionary fashion. For one because it means absolutely fucking gorgeous pieces launched in his ready-to-wear line for all people, but also because I can be confident that he is not objectifying or making a joke of the characters and bodies he has cast in the show.
Almost every piece is stunning and that's something I'd be hard pressed to say about other lines. If I ever met him, I'd kiss his hands.
